Crefeld Connects Mission

Crefeld Connects Mission

In this community service, we go to different site visits and host a blog to highlight our service and learning as well as that of other community services. Currently, we’re sponsoring  a clothing / toy drive for Cradles to Crayons, a non-profit that provides clothing and toys for children, specifically winter items for boys. In this effort, we are creating marketing materials for the drive, including our blog, and working through the elements of coordinating this event.

Our First Day

Our first day being hands-on in community service, working on the blog as well as making a Cradles to Crayons donation box to put in our school.

A Senior's Perspective

A Senior’s Perspective on Community Service

by Mike

Mike is currently a senior at The Crefeld School

What has community service meant to me? Over the last six years, I've worked on cleaning up my school and cleaning up Fairmount Park. To me, community service is a vital part of one's citizenship. If you are going to live in a certain community, you should show your appreciation for the community by doing your part. No matter what community you live in, there is always a way for you to lend a helping hand. Not only is doing community service good for the community, but it is good for yourself too. The colleges that I apply to will see how dedicated to my community I am. This makes it more likely that they will accept me into their program since they are looking for well-rounded students. Because of these reasons, community service has been very important to me at Crefeld.
